IDSA sends some lead downrange

On May 16th, 2010, we took a few members of the Rocky Mountain chapter of IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America) to a local range for a little different perspective on designing ergonomics.  The main goal was to explain the lineage of weapon design as is correlates with human factors and interaction.  Eric, the head of Magpul R&D, brought a small arsenal with him to help explain the time line of weapon design and how, as time progressed, ergonomics became more and more important to the overall design of the weapon. After the small lecture, there was a live fire session, where the mix of IDSA professionals and students got to see and feel firsthand the progression of weapon design in the past 50 years.

Eric and Mike give a safety rundown before weapons go live.

Eric explains the 4-way anti-tilt follower to a captivated audience.

Eric runs through the basic functions of each weapon, showing the differences between the weapon systems.

Mike supervises as the targets get holier.

Thank you to the IDSA for coming out for a great shoot!
