Manufacturing Engineer (ME0813)

Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer works with the project engineering, production engineering, and quality departments, to develop new processes, manufacturing procedures and specialized assembly tooling for new products. The Manufacturing Engineer must be a company leader in lean manufacturing initiatives, fixture and gauge development, automation, process optimization, and best industry practices.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the project engineer and design team to advise on design for manufacturability (“DFM”).
  • Propose, develop, and lead lean/kaizen events in the manufacturing facility.
  • Support day-to-day sustaining engineering activities.
  • Establish and review process and procedures, assembly documentation, and bills of material.
  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate production tools, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
  • Provide hand-on support to the manufacturing process with outside vendors as well as in-house inspection. 
  • Support manufacturing by coordinating with internal and external entities to ensure efficient production quality.
  • Coach other in best manufacturing practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college.  Bachelor’s degrees in related fields will be evaluated under special circumstances. 
  • Applied Manufacturing, Process, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent field) with 2-4 years experience in a technical support role in medium to high volume manufacturing and/or assembly.
  • Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks.

 

Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:

  • Must be able to understand and interpret engineering drawings.  DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION WITHOUT THIS SKILL.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a demonstrated knowledge of fixture and automation system design. 
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing a plus. 
  • Must be able to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information at all levels of the organization (shop floor to senior management).
  • Ability to train production leads and operators in new manufacturing and assembly methods and techniques.
  • Must have experience in supporting a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
  • Must be a dynamic, self-starter with a continual improvement mindset.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SolidWorks
  • Ability to utilize common inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Understanding of ERP systems desired (preferably MS Dynamics AX)

 

Special Skills or Training:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with injection molded and machined parts highly desirable.

Production Engineer (WYP0314)

 

Job Description:

The Production Engineer works with the project engineer, quality group, and production departments to integrate new products into the production system and provides sustaining support to existing product lines.  The Production Engineer must be a company leader in lean manufacturing initiatives, Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) compliance, process optimization, and best industry practices.

NOTE:  This position will start in Denver metro area to learn the products, process, and accounts associated with the business. When strategically appropriate, the Quality Supervisor will assist in the transition of quality operations to the Cheyenne, Wyoming facility.  Upon initiation of quality operations, this position will be based out of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain production documentation (“Production Job Books”).
  • Propose, develop, and lead lean/kaizen events in the manufacturing facility.
  • Support day-to-day sustaining engineering activities.
  • Assist production management with hazard identification and mitigation.
  • Complete time studies and maintain production time standards.
  • Evaluate production tools, fixtures, and equipment for operational efficiency and ergonomics.
  • Manage the development of new production tools, fixtures, and equipment, when required.
  • Coach others in best manufacturing practices.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college.  Bachelor’s degrees in related fields will be evaluated under special circumstances.

  • Must be a dynamic, self-starter with a continual improvement mindset.

Project Engineer (PE0114)

Job Description:

The Project Engineer works with the design, manufacturing engineering, production engineering, and quality departments, to manage the product development process from design through production release. The Project Engineer must be a company leader in project management, documentation management, and scheduling, timeline and milestone creation and management

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage project objectives by reviewing product definition and requirements, and conferring with the product management group.
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements and assigning personnel to these phases and elements.
  • Review, coordinate, and manage quotes from suppliers.
  • Confirms product performance by coordinating the design and implementation of test protocols.
  • Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes.  Recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administrating supplier contracts.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions when necessary to adhere to the product development timelines.
  • Work closely with the production engineer and design team to advise on design for manufacturability (“DFM”).
  • Manages outside contract manufacturers in the design and fabrication of fixtures, tooling and other items required for the product’s manufacturability.
  • Manage and approve all technical specifications and print packages (Technical Data Package – “TDP”).
  • Establish and review process and procedures, assembly documentation, and bills of material.
  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers.
  • Manage the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
  • Support manufacturing by coordinating with internal and external entities to ensure efficient production quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college. Bachelor’s degrees in related fields will be evaluated under special circumstances. 
  • Project and/or Mechanical Engineering with 2-4 years experience in a project management role. 
  • Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks.

 

Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:

  • Must be able to understand, interpret, and redline engineering drawings, including the specification and application of GD&T. 
  • Must be able to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information at all levels of the organization (shop floor to senior management).
  • Must understand the foundations and principals of injection molding, machining, metal finishing, and high-volume product assembly.
  • Must have experience in supporting a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
  • Must be a dynamic, self-starter with a continual improvement mindset.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SolidWorks
